Cashmere is one of the rarest and most precious natural fibres in the world.

The finest quality cashmere fibre comes from Mongolia where the high altitude and cold, harsh conditions enable the goats to grow the finest, longest fibre. The harsher the environment the better the quality of the goats undercoat. No other fibre can match the cashmere produced by goats of this desolate land. In the spring, local herdsman begin the laborious task of combing the precious undercoat from the belly and chin of their goats. It takes  3-4 goats to produce enough cashmere for a sweater and twenty four goats to produce enough for a cashmere coat.

Cashmereness uses a factory based in Mongolia, run by two hardy Scottish men, who like the goats, also seem to thrive in the harsh environment.  Together they have many years experience in the world famous Scottish textile industry.  They marry together their heritage of  traditional skills with the latest technology, creating beautiful cashmere garments that are exquisite to touch and wear.

Cashmereness is located at 645 Mt Pleasant Rd. 3 blocks south of Eglinton.
